Your guide to a better future
Apple’s latest flagship smartwatch is seeing some steep discounts for 2023.
When it comes to smartwatches, Apple continues to lead the pack, with all three of its current models claiming a spot on our list of the best smartwatches available in 2023. The pricey Apple Watch Ultra is the company’s most advanced model to-date, but the Series 8 — the latest in its flagship lineup — remains one of the overall best options out there for most people’s needs. It starts at $399, but right now there are a few offers out there that can save you as much as $70, or even more if you’ve got an older device to trade-in. We’ve rounded up the best bargains out there below so you can snag one of these sleek smartwatches for less.
The 2022 Apple Watch variant is the first model to come with a temperature sensor, which will be used to bring new ovulation-tracking features to the Apple Watch. Apple also added car-crash detection to the Series 8 so that emergency services and contacts can be notified in the event of an accident.
An enhanced low-power mode can temporarily disable features like the always-on display and auto-workout detection to preserve battery life if you need to eke out a little bit more power without taking too much away from the overall experience. That feature is not Series 8-exclusive, though, and has been made available on Series 4 and later models.
The Apple Watch Series 8 starts at $399 for the GPS-only model, with the GPS and cellular version going for $499 and up. If the Series 8 is not for you, be sure to peruse our list of the best Apple Watch deals for discounts across all models.
Walmart is offering some of the best deals you’ll find on the Series 8 right now. You can save $70 on both the GPS-only and GPS + cellular models, which drops the price down to $329 and $429 respectively. Amazon is offering similar deals, but Walmart has quite a few more colors and configurations in stock right now.
Amazon is one of the few retailers offering a no-strings-attached discount on the Apple Watch Series 8 at the moment. You can snag the base GPS-only 41mm model for just $329, or upgrade to the 45mm GPS + cellular model for $459, both saving you $70 compared to the usual price. There are a few other configurations you can snag on sale right now, but several models are out of stock, so you may not be able to get the exact size and color you’re looking for.
At the moment, Best Buy isn’t offering any straightforward discounts on the Apple Watch Series 8. But if you have an older smartwatch from Apple, Samsung, Garmin or Fitbit, you can save up to $150 with a trade-in. You’ll also score four free months of Apple Fitness Plus there, which is a month more than Apple gives new Apple Watch owners.
Target is also selling the Apple Watch Series 8 in its various configurations, though each is listed at full price right now. However, if you are a Target RedCard holder then you can get 5% off your purchase which is good for $20 off the entry-level variant and larger discounts on the more expensive models.
Go straight to the source for your Apple Watch Series 8 order and score three months of Apple Fitness Plus. If you’ve got an old Apple Watch to trade in, you could get as much as $165 off your Apple Watch Series 8 purchase.
