Over the weekend, Top Gear’s latest Christmas special, a trip through Nepal, premiered, and with it came a new trailer for the 28th season of the show. It looks as actioned-packed and goofy as ever. Which is just how we like it.
We’re especially excited to see Chris Harris racing a McLaren Speedtail against an F-35, and we’ll resist making the obvious joke of asking which one is more expensive. Harris also gets behind the wheel of Volkswagen’s electric Nürburgring and Pikes Peak record-holding ID.R race car. Season 28 will also feature some classic cheap-car bits, too, including one involving convertibles of some sort and another where the three hosts travel Peru.
So no new ground is being broken here with the types of segments, but it should be enjoyable all the same. We feared that Top Gear would lose its magic without Matt LeBlanc, and Rory Reid, but Harris and new hosts Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness have a great thing going.
The BBC hasn’t announced a release date for Top Gear Season 28 just yet, but expect it to premiere within the next few months. As for when it’ll hit BBC America, we’re not sure. No release date for the new Christmas special has been announced yet, so we may have to wait a little longer for the rest of this new season.
